Sophia Chizuco
Sophia Chizuco is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and curator based in New York City, originally from Japan. She holds a B.A. in Art and Education from Tokyo Gakugei University and earned a Certificate in Painting from the Art Students League of New York. Founder of froggies village, Chizuco leads community-driven art initiatives, including the ArtBridge Public Art Project, NYC Health + Hospitals’ Arts in Medicine program, and SU-CASA’s senior center residencies. She conducts workshops at nonprofits like the Bronx Council on the Arts and mentors immigrant artists through the New York Foundation for the Arts.
Her work has been featured in national and international exhibitions, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Staten Island Museum, and the Affordable Art Fair in Brussels. Recognized with awards like the ArtNetwork Grand Prize, her curatorial projects have been highlighted in publications such as White Hot Magazine and the ConEdison Newsletter.
