Jojo Anavim

Jojo Anavim (b. 1985, New York) is a New York–based contemporary artist known for his layered reinterpretations of American consumer culture. Raised in Long Island by Persian-Jewish immigrant parents, Anavim developed an early fascination with commercial graphics, packaging, and brand imagery—visual languages that continue to shape his practice today.

Before transitioning fully into fine art in 2013, Anavim worked as a graphic designer and creative consultant, producing campaigns for brands such as W Hotels and Sephora and designing album artwork for Universal Music Group artists. This commercial foundation remains evident in his work’s sharp visual rhythm and branding fluency.

Anavim’s paintings merge pop art and street art sensibilities through a highly tactile mixed-media process. Working with acrylic, oil stick, collage, silk-screen, diamond dust, and found materials collected since childhood, he builds densely layered surfaces that transform familiar consumer objects—cereal boxes, candy wrappers, logos, and vintage advertisements—into emotionally charged visual relics. His recent work increasingly explores the psychological and nostalgic weight embedded in everyday imagery.

His work has entered prominent private and institutional collections including the Coca-Cola Archives Museum, Vacheron Constantin Corporate Headquarters, Madison Square Garden, and the New York Yankees City Seats Collection. Anavim has also completed commissions for leading figures across sports, music, and business.

Anavim’s practice has been widely recognized in major publications including The New York Times, Forbes, American Art Collector, Business Insider, and Robb Report.
