Jaena Kwon
Jaena Kwon (b. 1986, South Korea) earned her MFA Painting and Printmaking at Yale University School of Art. Her work incorporates painting techniques that expand the pictorial space of the flat surface. In her practice, she uses folding and sanding techniques to expand the surface and support the structure of her paintings. Working with wood, light-dense fiberboard, gesso, acrylic, and pigments, she creates fluid and haptic textures that challenge the logic of dimensions and psychological realism. Her work has been exhibited at Tenri Cultural Institute (NY), Song Eun Art Space (Seoul), ING Art Project (Seoul), and many more.
