Jin Lim’s mixed media paintings merge art and physics, exploring the holographic theory—the idea that our three-dimensional world may be a projection of information encoded on a two-dimensional surface at the edge of the universe. Through this lens, Lim questions the nature of reality and perception, asking whether we are genuine beings or mere simulations within a cosmic hologram.

Born in Seoul and based in Washington, D.C., Lim studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (B.F.A., 2006) and earned a Master’s in Arts in Education from Harvard University (2010).
