I vividly remember visiting the Hyundai Museum of Contemporary Art in Gwacheon with my parents when I had just started elementary school. A small painting left such a strong impression on me that I begged for art supplies on the way home. Yet, when I tried to recreate the image, it lacked the intensity I had felt. Frustrated, I gave up, but my curiosity kept me drawing, searching for that elusive sensation.
As a teenager, I shifted toward design, believing art required a message. However, my time in New York broadened my perspective—I realized art is boundless, defined by the artist’s own truth. It was like savoring a flavor in full. Trusting my instincts, I felt compelled to express myself through fine art, embracing both artistry and fate.
My aesthetic evolves with my emotions and environment, but my creative direction remains unchanged. I seek stability in instability, completeness in incompleteness, and beauty in unexpected contrasts. Art, for me, is not about constructing but discovering something extraordinary.
Each completed work feels like witnessing the world’s creation. My spontaneous brushstrokes embody fate, infused with philosophy, spirituality, and love. I am grateful that my childhood dream never faded. I will continue my journey, forever chasing the impossible pursuit of the “perfect artistic practice.”
